Bhaskar DasGupta

Internationally Renowned Athlete

Bhaskar DasGupta began riding at the age of 11. Obsessed with all things animals, as a child Bhaskar wanted to pursue a career at National Geographics studying wolves and big cats. Riding horses was not yet on his radar, but hours spent wallowing in the sandbox at Toronto’s Grange Park with plastic horses and riders were eventually replaced by the real thing and a bigger sandbox.


After a few years on the Connemara pony, Journey’s End Cerafinn, Bhaskar transitioned to the jumper ring under the tutelage of 96’ Canadian Olympic team rider Chris Delia. He came up the jumper ranks over the years winning the 1.45m Next Generation FInal in 2008 on Anamika, just a 7 year old at the time. The following year Anamika and Bhaskar anchored their team at the 2009 North American Young Riders Championship in Lexington KY. They continued successes in the Grand Prix ring that 2009 year earning top placings in the United States and Canada.


In December 2010 Bhaskar began training with then individual Olympic Champion, Eric Lamaze, gaining experience and continuing a European summer show tour. Bhaskar began showing his next long time Grand Prix partner, Zinesse, during this time in the 7 year old division.


Over the next few seasons Bhaskar worked with top horsemen/horsewomen from all over Europe and the Americas, eventually coming home to Toronto starting DasGupta Sporthorses 2018. Here he specializes in the development of horses and riders from youngsters to International Grand Prix horses. With his particular approach to undertaking the most sensitive horses, Bhaskar has quickly taken numerous horses and students into the top of the sport.
